The United Arab Emirates president held a phone call with the US president to discuss escalating regional tensions as Iran continues missile strikes across the Gulf.
UAE President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan spoke by phone with US President Donald Trump to discuss developments in the region and their implications for regional and international security and stability, the Emirates News Agency (WAM) reported.
During the call, the two leaders also discussed what the UAE described as continued Iranian attacks targeting the UAE and other countries in the region, calling them violations of national sovereignty and a threat to regional stability.
The conversation came as authorities in the UAE reported a missile attack early Monday, saying air defense systems were responding as Iran carried out retaliatory strikes across the Gulf.
“Air defense systems are currently responding to a missile threat,” the country’s National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority said in a post on X.
State media also reported that authorities in the Emirate of Fujairah brought under control a fire caused by falling shrapnel following successful air defense interceptions.
Emergency response teams contained the blaze and no injuries were reported.
Officials urged the public to rely only on official sources for information and avoid spreading rumors.
