The UAE has dispatched an aircraft carrying relief aid to the Philippines in response to the extensive destruction caused by landslides and floods from Typhoon Carina.

Minister of State for International Cooperation Reem bint Ebrahim Al Hashimy said:

“The directives of His Highness the UAE President to dispatch aid to the Philippines demonstrate the dedication of the UAE to the values of solidarity and partnership, as well as its continuous commitment to extending a helping hand to provide humanitarian aid during crises and natural disasters”

She expressed the UAE’s solidarity with the Philippines following the devastating typhoon, highlighting the significant contributions of the Filipino community to the UAE’s development and also emphasized the long-standing bilateral relationship between the two countries.

The NDRRMC claimed that Typhoon Carina, tropical depression Butchoy, and Habagat affected 971,667 families.

Al Hashimy stated that the UAE's relief efforts are focused on providing immediate support to those affected by the disaster, including food, shelter, and medical supplies.

The aid is being delivered to areas severely impacted by the typhoon, such as Manila, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, Central Luzon, and Bangsamoro, where thousands have been displaced and tragically lost their lives.

Philippine News Agency reported that the aid included 2,464 packs or bags of milk powder, wheat flour, tea powder, rice, cooking oil, red lentils, peas, dates, juice, oats, tomato paste, sugar, and salt in addition to 4,928 packs and cans of pasta and other basic food items.
