Rain is forecast across the UAE for five days, with strong winds likely to lift dust and reduce visibility on Tuesday and Wednesday.
The UAE weather forecast shows rain for the next five days, with eastern areas likely to get the most, Khaleej Times reported. Dr. Ahmed Habib, a meteorologist at the National Center of Meteorology (NCM), said on Monday that showers could also reach Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Al Ain.
Will it rain in the UAE this week?
Yes. Rain is forecast every day for five days, mainly in the east and sometimes in the north. Areas between Al Ain and Abu Dhabi may also see showers. Rain had already been recorded around Hatta, and convective clouds are expected to bring more across the country.
What is causing the rain in the UAE?
A surface low-pressure system is extending toward the UAE from the southeast, along with a trough in the upper atmosphere. The system is expected to shift on Tuesday and Wednesday. Low pressure will then extend toward the UAE from the south and southwest.
That shift should encourage convective clouds. They will form first in eastern areas on Tuesday, then extend north and to some coastal areas, particularly in the west.
Moisture from the Arabian Sea, carried by southwesterly winds, is also adding to the unsettled conditions. The low-pressure system is expected to weaken gradually on October 23 and 24. Habib said leftover moisture in the upper atmosphere could still support cloud formation over the mountains.
What is the UAE rain forecast for each day?
On Tuesday, October 20, convective clouds may develop in the east and reach some inland and western areas by afternoon, bringing rain. Similar conditions are expected on Wednesday, October 21.
On Thursday, showers may develop over eastern and western areas. Friday is forecast to be fair to partly cloudy, with periods of cloud in the east and west.
Will there be hail, strong winds or wadi flooding in the UAE?
Some convective clouds could produce small hail. Habib said it is not expected to turn into a significant hailstorm or have much impact on the ground.
Sudden gusts may occur during cloudy spells. Winds could reach 50 kmph on Tuesday and Wednesday, lifting dust and reducing visibility.
Rainfall could be heavy over the eastern mountains, which may send water through wadis. Habib urged residents planning trips to the mountains or wadis to be careful.
Humidity is also set to rise overnight and in the early morning in some coastal and inland areas. Fog or mist is possible in places.
Why does it feel hotter in the UAE this October?
Temperatures this October have been 1°C to 1.5°C above the seasonal average. Habib said high humidity and elevated moisture are making the heat feel more uncomfortable, even though recorded temperatures are only slightly above normal.
