The UAE has completed the development of Etihad-SAT, an advanced Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) satellite, and is set to launch it in March 2025, officials announced.
Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense of the UAE, shared the milestone on Monday, highlighting the country’s progress in space exploration.
“We are delighted to announce the completion of our latest space project, Etihad-SAT, an advanced SAR satellite set to launch in March 2025,” Sheikh Hamdan said on X.
Developed through a partnership between the Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Centre and South Korea’s Satrec Initiative, Etihad-SAT incorporates cutting-edge imaging technologies, enabling high-precision observations in all weather conditions.
“Our ambitions in the space sector know no bounds, and we firmly believe in the capabilities of our youth to strengthen the UAE’s global leadership in space exploration,” Sheikh Hamdan added.
The project represents another step in the UAE’s expanding space program, which aims to boost scientific advancements and innovation.
