US remains Pakistan’s top trade market in Sept, exports up 3.7%
Shipments to China and UK decline year-on-year, while Spain and the Netherlands post double-digit growth in Pakistani exports

The United States retained its position as Pakistan’s top export destination in September, with export receipts rising 3.7% year-on-year to $530.44 million, up from $511.51 million in the same month last year, according to data released by the State Bank of Pakistan.
China ranked second, despite a decline in exports from Pakistan to the country. Shipments to China dropped 11.8% year-on-year to $207.92 million in September, compared to $235.64 million during the same period last year.
The United Kingdom emerged as the third-largest market, receiving goods worth $188.62 million. This marked a 4.1% decrease from $196.62 million in exports recorded in September 2024.
Spain showed the highest year-on-year growth among the top export markets, with Pakistani exports rising 14.4% to $140.63 million. Germany followed with $140.04 million in exports, down slightly by 0.5% from the same period last year.
Exports to the Netherlands (Holland) rose by 14.5% year-on-year to $138.14 million. Meanwhile, the United Arab Emirates (Dubai) saw a 14.6% decline in imports from Pakistan, totaling $124.61 million in September.
On a month-over-month basis, Pakistan’s exports to the U.S. increased by 6.8%, while exports to China rose sharply by 34.3%. Exports to the U.K. also posted a modest gain of 3.6% from August.
First quarter trends favor the U.S.
During the first quarter of FY2025-26 (July to September), the United States remained Pakistan’s leading export destination with cumulative shipments valued at $1.64 billion, up from $1.46 billion in the same period last year.
The U.K. was the second-largest destination in the quarter, with total exports rising 1.9% to $573.74 million.
China ranked third in terms of cumulative export earnings, receiving $562.39 million worth of goods from Pakistan during the first three months of FY26—a marginal increase from $559.08 million a year earlier.
