Abu Dhabi authorities report that five people were injured after debris from a intercepted missile sparked fires in the Khalifa Economic Zones – Kezad area.
The injuries, described as minor to moderate, involved individuals of Indian nationality.
The Abu Dhabi Media Office said the fires followed the successful interception of a ballistic missile by the UAE’s air defenses, highlighting the ongoing threat from regional hostilities. Officials urged residents to rely solely on verified sources and avoid spreading unconfirmed reports.

The United Arab Emirates’ Defense Ministry confirmed that the incident occurred early on March 28, during a coordinated missile and drone attack launched by Iran. UAE air defenses intercepted incoming ballistic and cruise missiles as well as drones, limiting damage to industrial zones.
According to government statements, the Khalifa Economic Zones were directly affected by falling debris from the interception. Emergency teams quickly responded to contain the fires, while medical assistance was provided to the injured.
Since the beginning of recent Iranian strikes in the Gulf, UAE forces have intercepted 378 ballistic missiles, 15 cruise missiles, and 1,835 unmanned aerial vehicles, officials said, underscoring the scale and persistence of the threat.
The attacks come amid rising tensions between Iran and Gulf nations, with the UAE repeatedly targeted in recent months. Authorities emphasized their commitment to safeguarding national interests and ensuring the safety of both residents and foreign nationals across the emirate.
