Attock Refinery Ltd (ARL) has signed a USD 600 million agreement with Italian firm STP Studi Technologie Progetti to provide engineering and project management services for a major refinery upgrade.
The agreement, signed Wednesday by STP CEO Carlo Gustavo Lombardi and ARL CEO Adil Khattak, marks a key step in ARL’s plan to improve production and reduce environmental impact.
"This is an important milestone towards ARL's goal of value addition and environment-friendly production," the refinery stated.
The partnership covers Front-End Engineering Design (FEED) and Project Management Consultancy (PMC) for the upgradation project.
ARL has already completed FEED studies with U.S.-based UOP/Honeywell for a Continuous Catalyst Regeneration (CCR) unit and the revamp of its Diesel Hydro Desulfurization Unit.
The estimated total cost of the upgradation is USD 600 million, with a focus on producing cleaner fuel and modernizing operations to meet future energy demands.
