Pakistan has broken into the top 10 global exporters of truck and bus radial tires to key global markets, including the United States and Brazil.

The surge is driven by Service Long March Tires Limited which has rapidly expanded its international footprint since starting operations in 2022.

How did Pakistan become a top 10 TBR tyre exporter?

Historically, Pakistan has relied on imports to meet domestic demand, estimated at around 1.7 million annually for the truck and bus segment. Passenger vehicle demand adds approximately 7 million units per year.

Now, local manufacturing is increasingly replacing imported volumes in both segments.

Analysts say the combination of rising exports, capacity expansion, and import substitution is repositioning Pakistan's tire sector as a foreign exchange earner.

Before 2022, Pakistan's tire exports were negligible. Since then, SLM has expanded its production and scaled exports.

The company leverages Chinese manufacturing technology to maintain one of the lowest production cost structures in Pakistan. It exports nearly 40% of its annual TBR output to markets including the US, Brazil, South Africa, and Egypt.

What is Service Long March Tires' market share?

SLM currently produces approximately 1.6 million TBR tires annually. It holds an estimated 58% share of Pakistan's domestic TBR market. The company plans to expand capacity to 2 million units by July 2026 and 2.2 million units by June 2027.

The company also plans to expand into passenger car radial tire manufacturing alongside continued growth in commercial tire output.

The company's IPO, approved by SECP in May 2026, aims to raise PKR 7.8 billion to fund the PKR 22.5 billion Passenger Car Radial tires project.
