Pakistan’s army chief, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, visited the headquarters of the Special Services Group (SSG) in Tarbela on Thursday and reviewed its operational preparedness.

The military’s media wing, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), said he stressed sustained training and readiness to meet evolving security challenges.

What did Field Marshal Munir say during the SSG visit?

Munir said continuous training, the development of indigenous capabilities and an uncompromising focus on operational preparedness are needed to keep an edge over emerging threats.

He praised the professionalism, morale and commitment of officers and troops, according to ISPR. He serves as both army chief and chief of defense forces.

What happened during the visit to the SSG headquarters?

The formation’s General Officer Commanding received Munir on arrival. He laid a floral wreath at the Shuhada Monument and offered Fateha in tribute to SSG personnel who lost their lives in the line of duty.

He was then briefed on the force’s specialized training programs, operational preparedness and mission-oriented capabilities. The visit also included a display of advanced specialized equipment and a demonstration of the SSG’s combat skills, agility and precision in conducting special operations.

The visit reflects the military leadership’s continued focus on strengthening the capabilities and readiness of Pakistan’s special operations forces.
