Pakistan’s top military commander said the country’s armed forces are fully prepared to counter future threats as he observed a high-intensity field exercise focused on modern, technology-driven warfare.
Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Pakistan’s chief of army staff and chief of defense forces, visited Bahawalpur Garrison on Thursday, where he was briefed on operational, training and administrative matters of the Bahawalpur Corps, with an emphasis on preparedness for multi-domain warfare.
Pakistan maintains one of the world’s largest standing armies and has increasingly highlighted modernization and technological integration as militaries globally adapt to rapid changes in the nature of conflict.
During the visit, according to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Munir observed “Steadfast Resolve,” a field exercise held at Khairpur Tamewali, or KPT. The exercise demonstrated the use of unmanned aerial systems, advanced surveillance assets, electronic warfare capabilities and modern command-and-control mechanisms.

The military said the exercise reflected the Pakistan Armed Forces’ focus on technology-enabled, multi-domain operations, a concept that integrates land, air, cyber and electronic capabilities on the battlefield.
Addressing troops, Munir praised their morale, professional competence and operational preparedness. He said the Pakistan Armed Forces remain fully prepared to defend the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity against all threats.
He stressed the importance of maintaining optimum readiness to respond to future battlefield and security challenges.
Munir said the character of warfare has evolved significantly due to rapid technological advancements and that Pakistan’s armed forces are undergoing a major transformation across multiple domains.
Future conflicts, he said, would increasingly rely on technological maneuvers rather than purely physical ones, fundamentally altering both offensive and defensive operations.
In that context, Munir said innovation, indigenization and adaptation would remain central to the military’s modernization efforts.
Earlier in the day, he inaugurated the ROHI eSkills Learning Hub, which aims to promote digital skills and learning opportunities for students, particularly from southern Punjab and other parts of the country.
He also inaugurated the APS Abbasia Campus, reaffirming the army’s stated commitment to education and character building.
Later, Munir visited the EME Regional Workshop, where he was briefed on maintenance regimes designed to sustain modern military platforms through advanced technologies, indigenization and other combat support measures.
Upon his arrival at Bahawalpur Garrison, Munir was received by the commander of the Bahawalpur Corps.
He laid a floral wreath at Yadgar-e-Shuhada and offered Fateha, paying tribute to soldiers who died in the line of duty.
