Pakistan's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and his Iranian counterpart Abbas Araghchi discussed regional developments, energy supplies and maritime traffic in a telephone call on Saturday, Pakistan's Foreign Ministry said.

The call came amid continuing regional tensions and concerns over energy flows, maritime security and disruptions to global trade.

What did Dar say about energy supplies and shipping?

Dar stressed that uninterrupted energy supplies and the safe and expeditious passage of ships matter particularly because of their potential impact on developing economies and global supply chains, the ministry said.

He also said dialogue and diplomacy were the only viable means of promoting peace and stability in the region.

Where will Dar and Araghchi meet next?

The two ministers agreed to maintain close coordination and meet in New York on the sidelines of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly, according to the ministry.
