A delivery driver has been arrested by Dubai Police after video footage showed him deliberately knocking down another bike on the roads of Dubai.

According to a statement by the police, the offending rider endangered the life of another following a dispute over the right of way. The rider has been booked at Al Barsha Police Station and referred to the Public Prosecution for further legal action.

Dubai Police urged all drivers to adhere to traffic laws and to turn to relevant authorities to resolve any disputes instead of dealing with them personally.

Road rage is a serious traffic offense in Dubai, carrying penalties including fines, black points, license suspensions, vehicle confiscation and even imprisonment. Endangering others by recklessly driving can get you a fine of AED 2,000 and 23 black points. Your vehicle will also be impounded for 60 days.

Additionally, those who commit indecent or insulting acts in public, whether it be swearing or using rude hand gestures, can face a minimum of six months in prison. If the act was committed against a woman or a boy less than 15 years of age, the perpetrator may face a year in prison and/or an additional fine of AED 10,000.
