DXB tops list of most connected airports in the Middle East and Africa: Report
The UAE hub maintains its dominance, ranking as the region's leading airport and securing a spot in the top 10 global low-cost megahubs.

Dubai International Airport (DXB) has once again been recognized as the top airport in the Middle East and Africa, according to the latest Megahubs: Most Connected Airports in the World rankings.
In addition to this achievement, DXB ranked seventh globally among the Top 25 Low-Cost Megahubs, making it the highest-ranked airport outside of Asia in this category.
From September 2023 to August 2024, DXB offered flights to 279 destinations, the highest number of any airport in the rankings, though not all were served by low-cost carriers.
Qatar's Hamad International Airport (DOH) secured the second spot regionally, followed by Johannesburg's O.R. Tambo International (JNB), Riyadh’s King Khalid International Airport (RUH), and Addis Ababa’s Bole International Airport (ADD), completing the top five in the Middle East and Africa.
The report also highlighted that dominant airlines operate a large share of flights at these airports. On average, the leading carrier controls 52% of flights at the top 10 airports in the region.
Emirates Airline leads at DXB, operating 38% of flights, while Ethiopian Airlines is the most dominant, handling 96% of flights at Addis Ababa Bole International Airport (ADD).
