Pakistan’s Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) fell short of its tax collection target by PKR 187 billion in March, according to official sources.

The FBR collected PKR 1,180 billion in taxes during the month against a target of PKR 1,367 billion, the sources said.

For the July-March period of the current fiscal year, tax revenues totaled PKR 9,305 billion, missing the target of PKR 9,915 billion. This brought the cumulative shortfall for the first three quarters to PKR 610 billion.

Despite the gap, officials expect additional revenue from the super tax before the fiscal year ends on June 30, the sources added.
