Google has launched AI Mode in Pakistan, bringing its most powerful AI-powered Search experience to local users. The rollout enables faster, smarter, and more comprehensive answers to complex queries, the company said Tuesday.
First introduced in the United States earlier this year, AI Mode is now expanding globally. Google said it is gaining traction among users who value its speed, quality, and fresh responses.
Powered by a custom version of Gemini 2.5, AI Mode allows users to ask longer and more complex questions that previously required multiple searches. Google said early testers were already asking queries two to three times longer than traditional searches.
AI Mode is particularly useful for exploratory tasks such as comparing products, planning trips, or understanding complex how-tos. It delivers answers by breaking queries into subtopics, searching multiple sources, and presenting results with helpful links for further exploration.
For Pakistani users, the tool can generate itineraries for trips, recommend local food spots, or provide resources for students. For example, a parent might ask for free online resources for Grade 9 algebra and geometry, followed by a request for interactive apps or YouTube channels for math practice.
The experience goes beyond text. AI Mode is multimodal, allowing users to search by typing, speaking, or uploading images. Through Google Lens, a user can snap a photo of unfamiliar spices in a market and ask how they are used in Pakistani cooking.
Google said the system integrates advanced model capabilities with its existing search infrastructure, including Knowledge Graph data and shopping information for billions of products. The company emphasized that content discovery remains central to its mission, with AI Mode directing users to high-quality web pages and sources.
The tool also prioritizes factual accuracy, relying on new techniques to improve reliability. When confidence is low, AI Mode defaults to traditional search results. Google acknowledged that, as an early-stage AI product, it is still refining accuracy but is committed to continuous improvement.
