The Labour Party won the UK general election 2024 on July 5, surpassing the majority 326 mark to form the government. The party has officially secured 412 seats. Keir Starmer will become the first Prime Minister of the Labor Party in 14 years.
“We did it! You campaigned for it, you fought for it, you voted for it, and now it has arrived. Change begins now. And it feels good, I have to be honest. four and a half years of work changing the party, this is what it is for, a changed Labour party, ready to serve our country, ready to restore Britain to the service of working people,” Starmer was quoted as saying.
UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak addressed the Conservative Party supporters in Richmond and Northern Allerton and conceded the Labour Party’s victory, saying he “takes responsibility for the loss.”
“I've called Sir Keir Starmer to congratulate him on his victory. Today, power will change hands in a peaceful and orderly manner, with goodwill on all sides. That is something that should give us all confidence in our country's stability and future," Rishi Sunak added.
