ICC delegation satisfied with Champions Trophy preparations in Karachi, Rawalpindi

A delegation from the International Cricket Council (ICC), led by Senior Manager of Events Sarah Edgar, met with Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi in Islamabad on Friday to review preparations for the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy, scheduled for early next year in Pakistan.

During the meeting, the parties engaged in a detailed discussion about the organizational and logistical aspects of the tournament. Security plans for the major event were also a focal point of the conversation, given the scale of the competition.

The ICC delegation expressed satisfaction with the progress of arrangements at venues, including Karachi and Rawalpindi. They were also pleased with the security measures being implemented in both cities ahead of the tournament.

Naqvi promises world-class tournament

Naqvi assured the ICC representatives that world-class preparations would be in place for the event, slated for February and March. He emphasized that stadium upgrades, including those at Lahore's Gaddafi Stadium, would be completed well before the tournament begins.

“Comprehensive security arrangements will be made for all participating teams,” said Naqvi, who also serves as Pakistan’s Interior Minister.

“It’s is a great honor to be hosting this prestigious event, and out preparations would reflect the significance of the tournament,” he added.

Naqvi added that the upgraded facilities would not only enhance the players' experience but also provide fans with the opportunity to enjoy top-tier cricket in a comfortable environment.

He said that Pakistani fans are passionate about cricket and support teams from around the world.

In addition to Sarah Edgar, Event Manager and Champions Trophy Lead Aoun Mohammad Zaidi, ICC General Manager of Cricket Wasim Khan, Security Manager David Musker, Broadcast Consultant Mansoor Manj, PCB Director of International Cricket Usman Wahla, Director of Security Col (retd) Khalid Mehmood, and Head of Marketing Salman Masood were also present at the meeting.

The delegation is also set to visit Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium for further inspections.
