Why did Iran launch missile and drone attacks on the UAE?

Iran's Khatam Al Anbiya military headquarters accused the US of targeting an Iranian oil tanker in the Jask region and a ship near Fujairah's port.

Tehran said its forces retaliated by striking American military vessels, with the UAE caught in broader Iranian strikes on Gulf states. Iran has not directly acknowledged targeting the UAE in this latest exchange.

Major sites including Dubai's Palm development, airports and energy infrastructure were among the locations struck during Iran's attacks on Gulf states, according to AFP citing state media.

Is the UAE seeking compensation from Iran?

The UAE announced plans to form a committee to document damage caused by Iranian attacks, laying the groundwork for potential legal action and compensation claims.

The state-run WAM news agency reported the committee will compile a comprehensive file to support the UAE's legal efforts at both the national and international levels. Last month, the UAE's foreign ministry said the strikes require Iran to be held fully accountable for damages and reparations.
