Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has expressed gratitude to Pakistan for its “strong solidarity and support” as Tehran faces what he described as aggression from the United States and Israel.

In a post in Urdu, Araghchi wrote: “In these blessed, divine, and spiritual days and hours, I sincerely thank the government and people of Pakistan for their strong expression of solidarity and support for the people and government of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the face of the aggression of the United States and the Zionist regime.”

“The Islamic Republic of Iran stands firmly and resolutely, placing full trust in Allah, to defend its sovereignty and territorial integrity,” he added.

The remarks come amid escalating tensions in the Middle East following US and Israeli attacks on Iran on February 28. Tehran responded with missile and drone strikes targeting US bases across the Gulf region, including in Saudi Arabia, further heightening regional instability.

Meanwhile, the US-Israeli campaign on Iran has unsettled global energy markets and fueled instability across the Middle East in its third week.

On Sunday, Donald Trump insisted that nations dependent on Gulf oil have a responsibility to secure the Strait of Hormuz, a strategic chokepoint through which roughly 20% of the world’s energy supply transits.

However, Trump’s call for a coalition to escort vessels through the strait appeared to face resistance, with key allies Japan and Australia stating they have no plans to deploy naval ships to the Gulf to safeguard shipping lanes.
