Ishq Murshid: Who has penned the OST?

A dispute over the authorship of a popular Pakistani drama theme song has erupted, pitting actress Javeria Saud against renowned singer-composer Ahmed Jehanzeb.

In a recent television interview, Saud claimed she wrote the title track for the hit series "Ishq Murshid" without receiving credit. She also added that she had penned songs for several other dramas without recognition.

"You learn from the betrayal of friends in this industry, and I have no regrets about not receiving credit for my work."

The actress also stated she produced the first season of Khuda Aur Mohabbat and wrote its theme song, which was later reused in the second season due to its popularity.

However, Jehanzeb's manager, Omar Ijaz Khan, firmly denied Saud's claims. "The song is written, composed, and sung by Ahmed Jehanzeb alone," Khan told Nukta. He pointed out that the official soundtrack description on HUM TV's YouTube channel attributes the work solely to Jehanzeb.

The Ishq Murshid theme has become a massive hit, accumulating 178 million views on YouTube since its release. The romantic comedy directed by Farooq Rind, aired on HUM TV from October 8, 2023, to May 5, 2024.

The show, produced by Moomal Entertainment and MD Productions, starred Bilal Abbas Khan and Durefishan Saleem in lead roles and was equally popular in Pakistan, India and other countries.

As the controversy unfolds, neither HUM TV nor the production companies have commented on Saud's claims, leaving the true authorship of the hit song unresolved.
