Lucky Cement's plant in Iraq was hit by an unidentified object. However, it caused no material or significant damage, the company said in a filing to the Pakistan Stock Exchange on Friday.

The company made the disclosure to address rumors arising from a video circulating on social media since Thursday showing a flying object hitting the plant in Iraq. Market rumors have been circulating for more than 24 hours, suggesting a suspected drone struck the plant’s clinker facility.

"In this regard, it is hereby informed that the cement plant, operated under a joint venture arrangement at Samawah, Iraq, remains fully operational and no significant or material damage has been caused," the company said.

The incident occurred when an unidentified flying object collided with the top part of the pre-heater installed at Samawah, causing negligible damage to some electrical wiring, it added.
