Mari Energies has announced its third gas and condensate discovery at the Spinwam-1 exploratory well, drilled in the Waziristan Block of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) province.

Formation testing has recorded a gas flow of 23.85 million standard cubic feet per day (mmscfd) and approximately 122 barrels per day of condensate. Additional testing in targeted formations is underway to fully assess the well's potential.

This follows two earlier hydrocarbon discoveries in the same well. The first discovery, announced on February 25, recorded a flow of 12.96 mmscfd of gas and approximately 20 barrels per day of condensate. The second discovery, announced on March 13, yielded 20.485 mmscfd of gas and approximately 117 barrels per day of condensate.

Mari Energies operates the Waziristan Block with a 55% working interest, alongside joint venture partners Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) with 35% and Orient Petroleum Inc. with 10%.

This breakthrough represents a significant step in addressing Pakistan’s growing gas demand by utilizing domestic resources while simultaneously enhancing the country’s hydrocarbon reserves.

Faheem Haider, Managing Director & CEO of Mari Energies, reaffirmed the company’s commitment to exploring and developing new hydrocarbon reserves.

Moreover, OGDCL announced the successful revival of production from the Chak # 2-2 Well, a joint venture located in the Sinjhoro Block.

The project includes OGDCL as the operator with a 62.5% working interest, Government Holdings (Private) Limited (GHPL) with 22.5%, and Orient Petroleum Inc. holding 15%.

The well, situated in Sindh’s Sanghar district, underwent sidetrack operations and recompletion in the Basal Sand formation, leading to promising production results.

Post-completion testing confirmed a daily output of 115 barrels of oil, 7.0 million standard cubic feet of gas, and 21 metric tons of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG).

The revived well has been successfully integrated into the Sinjhoro Gas Processing Plant, with the processed gas now being injected into the Sui Southern Gas Company Limited (SSGCL) network.

OGDCL stated the achievement reflects its commitment to operational efficiency and reserve optimization, reinforcing its position as Pakistan’s leading exploration and production company focused on sustainable energy and stakeholder value.
