Commuters and residents across the UAE have been advised to take extra care as dense fog and low visibility are expected to affect several areas from late Tuesday night, WAM reported.
The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) issued a weather alert warning that horizontal visibility could drop sharply, at times approaching near-zero conditions over coastal regions and islands. The advisory is in effect from 11:30 p.m. on Tuesday, 24 February, until at least 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday.
Authorities have urged motorists to slow down, maintain safe distances between vehicles, and avoid using hazard lights while driving in foggy conditions, the NCM added.
According to the Khaleej Times, fog and mist are also likely to form over internal areas on Wednesday, with humidity levels rising overnight and into Thursday morning.
Daytime temperatures are expected to reach 35ºC in internal regions, dropping to lows of around 9ºC, while coastal cities will see highs in the low 30s. Abu Dhabi and Sharjah are forecasted to hit maximum temperatures of 33°C and 31°C, with minimums of 20°C and 18°C respectively, while Dubai will experience a high of 32°C and a low of 21°C.
Maritime conditions are expected to be slight to moderate in the Arabian Gulf, turning gradually rough by night, while the Oman Sea will remain slight.
