Mughal-e-Azam and the Pakistan connection
Pakistan shares another unique connection with this iconic Bollywood film
Bollywood classic Mughal-e-Azam is considered one of the best films ever produced post-independence. Apart from being the birthplace of both Dilip Kumar and Prithvi Raj Kapoor, Pakistan shares one more connection with the iconic film.
Nukta’s Omair Alavi meets with Saeed Shiraz, who takes him on a trip down memory lane to explain how Mughal-e-Azam is as much a Pakistani product as it is Indian.
Saeed Shiraz explains that his father, Shiraz Ali Hakim, initiated the K. Asif venture in the 1940s, and later convinced builder Shapoorji Pallonji to invest in the project after Independence.
He also reveals that Prithviraj Kapoor, Dilip Kumar, and Madhubala were not the original choices for Akbar, Salim, and Anarkali. Curious about the original cast for these iconic roles and the full story of Mughal-e-Azam's Pakistan connection? Watch the complete video to uncover the details.
