Multan Sultans defeated Islamabad United by five wickets in the fourth match of the HBL PSL 2026 at Gaddafi Stadium on Saturday, powered by a half-century from Josh Philippe and a three-wicket haul by Momin Qamar.
Chasing 172, the Sultans recovered from an early setback after Sahibzada Farhan fell cheaply. Philippe then steadied the innings with Steve Smith in a 45-run stand.
Smith scored 31 on his PSL debut before being dismissed by Salman Irshad, while Shan Masood also departed early.
Philippe later combined with captain Ashton Turner to add a crucial 61-run partnership for the fourth wicket. The wicketkeeper-batter top-scored with 55 off 35 balls, hitting five fours and two sixes, while Turner guided the chase with an unbeaten 43 off 28 deliveries.
Arafat Minhas chipped in with a quick 25 off 11 balls and Mohammad Nawaz remained not out on seven as the Sultans reached the target with eight balls to spare.
