Starlink launches satellite internet service in Oman

Oman's Telecommunications Regulatory Authority approved Starlink Muscat to operate as an internet provider in the Sultanate.

Oman's Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) has officially approved Starlink Muscat to operate as an internet provider in the Sultanate, delivering broadband services through satellite communication systems.

Starlink, powered by low-earth orbit satellite technology, is designed to provide high-speed internet connectivity in remote and underserved areas. With coverage planned across all regions of Oman, Starlink Muscat aims to offer speeds of up to 100 Mbps, helping bridge the digital divide in areas with limited infrastructure.

In addition to residential and business broadband, Starlink Muscat will deploy smart solutions to connect telecommunications towers in regions with challenging terrain—supporting the country’s broader goals of digital transformation.

The service is expected to benefit key sectors such as oil and gas, mining, tourism, and agriculture, enabling improved connectivity and productivity across Oman's diverse economic landscape.
