Pakistan's army chief presided over a military investiture ceremony at General Headquarters in Rawalpindi on Thursday, where gallantry awards were conferred on officers, soldiers and families of martyrs.

Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir attended as chief guest, honoring personnel for operational gallantry and distinguished national service, the Inter-Services Public Relations said.

What gallantry awards were given at the GHQ ceremony?

The Pakistan Army conferred 62 decorations in total at Thursday's investiture: 50 Sitara-e-Imtiaz (Military) and 12 Tamgha-e-Basalat awards.

The Sitara-e-Imtiaz (Military) ranks among the country's highest military honors for gallantry and meritorious service. Medals awarded posthumously were received by the families of deceased soldiers, known in Pakistan as Shuhada.

What did the army chief say about martyrs and national sacrifice?

Munir paid tribute to the sacrifices of Pakistan's martyrs, saying the country owed its peace and security to their devotion. "Shuhada and Ghazis remain the enduring pride of the nation.

Their honor and sacrifice are a sacred trust for every Pakistani," he said. He also acknowledged the resilience of martyrs' families and praised their commitment to the country.

How did the army chief assess the fight against militancy?

Munir commended the operational preparedness of the Pakistan Army and law enforcement agencies for their continued efforts against militancy.

He reaffirmed that the campaign would press on with national resolve until lasting peace and stability are secured across the country.
