Pakistan on Wednesday destroyed militant hideouts at 50 locations along its border with Afghanistan, security officials said, as part of an ongoing military operation targeting armed groups accused of cross-border attacks.

The strikes were carried out overnight between March 3 and 4 under what officials describe as “Operation Ghazb Lil Haq.” Heavy weapons were used to hit what the military said were identified militant positions in multiple sectors.

According to security officials, operations were conducted in the areas of Qilla Saifullah, Chaman, Sambaza, Ghudwana, Jani and Ghaznali. The locations were described as being used by militants to stage cross-border assaults into Pakistani territory.

Officials said the offensive targeted fighters identified as members of the Afghan Taliban as well as groups referred to by Pakistan as Fitna al-Khawarij and Fitna al-Hindustan. They claimed the strikes caused significant casualties and material losses, though no independent confirmation was immediately available.

The operation follows what Islamabad has described as “unprovoked firing” from across the border last month, which prompted the launch of the campaign. Pakistani authorities say the military action aims to deter further incursions and safeguard national sovereignty.

Information Minister Attaullah Tarar has previously said that since the start of the operation, Pakistani forces have destroyed 188 militant posts and taken control of 31 positions. He added that 464 militants had been killed and more than 665 injured.

Security officials said the campaign would continue until its stated objectives are achieved, underscoring the military’s commitment to countering what it calls cross-border militancy.
