Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, met Monday with Egypt’s foreign minister, Dr Badr Ahmed Mohamed Abdelatty, to review bilateral ties and discuss ways to expand defense cooperation, the military said.
In a statement, Inter-Services Public Relations said both sides reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening collaboration in defense and security.
Their discussions centered on military-to-military cooperation, training exchanges, and initiatives aimed at promoting regional peace and stability.
Strategic cooperation
The Egyptian foreign minister conveyed greetings from Egypt’s leadership and reiterated Cairo’s interest in broadening strategic cooperation with Pakistan across multiple sectors.
Both sides underscored the importance of sustained high-level engagement to address emerging regional challenges and deepen long-standing ties between the two countries.
Trade and business push
During a joint press conference on Sunday, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar announced that Pakistan will share two lists of 250 business houses each with Egypt to boost bilateral trade.
The first list of 250 companies will be prepared in collaboration with the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce & Industry. In contrast, a second list will follow three months later, bringing the total to 500 firms.
“These businesses will be facilitated and supported to enhance bilateral commercial engagement,” Dar said, noting that the firms will be selected through a transparent process across all sectors.
Dar also announced the creation of a Pakistan-Egypt Business Council to institutionalize private-sector cooperation, followed by the establishment of a Pakistan-Egypt Business Forum, co-chaired by both foreign ministers. The first forum meeting is scheduled in Cairo in the second quarter of 2026.
