Pakistan’s security forces have killed at least 35 militants in a series of high-intensity, intelligence-driven operations over the past few days, the military’s media wing, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), said Tuesday.
According to ISPR, 26 militants affiliated with the group “Fitna Al Khwarij” were killed in four separate engagements across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on February 24.
In North Waziristan, security forces detected a group attempting to cross the Pakistan-Afghanistan border near Hassan Khel. Troops engaged the militants, killing one suspected fighter, who was identified as an Afghan national.
In the Lakki Marwat district, three militants were killed during an intense exchange of fire, ISPR said.
Simultaneously, operations continued in multiple areas. In two separate engagements in Narmi Khel, Bannu district, security forces neutralized ten militants. Acting on precise intelligence in Mir Ali, North Waziristan district, troops eliminated twelve more suspected militants.
In the Sambaza area of Zhob district, eight militants linked to “Fitna Al Hindustan” were killed after a fierce gun battle. Weapons and ammunition were recovered from the militants, who were allegedly involved in multiple terrorist activities in the region.
Counterterrorism efforts continue
ISPR reiterated that Pakistan’s security forces remain committed to defending the country’s frontiers. Sanitization operations are ongoing to eliminate any remaining militants in the affected areas.
The army emphasized that the counterterrorism drive, under the vision of “Azm-e-Istehkam” and approved by the Federal Apex Committee under the National Action Plan, will continue at full pace to eradicate what it described as foreign-sponsored terrorism from the country.
