Pakistan's military warned on Thursday that any hostile action against the country would be met with greater strength, precision and resolve, as it marked the first anniversary of last year's military confrontation with India.

The statement was issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations directorate to coincide with commemorations of the episode Pakistan calls "Marka-e-Haq" or the "Battle of Truth".

The confrontation followed an April 22 attack in Indian-administered Kashmir and ended with a ceasefire on May 10, 2025.

What is Marka-e-Haq and why does Pakistan commemorate it?

Marka-e-Haq is Pakistan's state-used term for the brief but intense 2025 military confrontation with India.

Pakistan describes it as a significant milestone in its military history, citing improvements in operational readiness, inter-service coordination and air force modernization. The anniversary is marked as a symbol of national unity and institutional resolve.

What did Pakistan's military say on the Marka-e-Haq anniversary?

The ISPR statement said any hostile design against Pakistan would be countered with greater strength, precision and resolve than what the adversary witnessed during Marka-e-Haq. It described the Pakistan Air Force as a "future-ready air power" that had mastered multi-domain operations and inducted cutting-edge systems.

The statement said the operations were "unprecedented in scope and novel in the history of aerial warfare."

Pakistan's military said it remained fully aware of the evolving regional security environment and the "aggressive capability pursuits of adversarial forces." It added that the armed forces continued to invest in critical capabilities, advanced technologies and professional excellence to meet future challenges.

The statement described Pakistan as a peace-loving country whose armed forces embodied a "mature and responsible strategic culture."

What is Pakistan's stated strategic position heading into the future?

The military said its armed forces stood prepared for the "future battle space" and remained ready to decisively respond to any aggression imposed on the homeland. It added that all efforts were aimed at preserving peace, promoting stability and ensuring regional security.

Pakistan's military leadership earlier this week also described the anniversary as a symbol of national unity and reiterated that the armed forces remained alert to regional developments.

The ISPR statement paid tribute to every member of the Pakistan Air Force for their professionalism, sacrifice and operational focus, calling their contribution pivotal to the defense of Pakistan's airspace.

It said the anniversary reaffirmed institutional resolve and renewed national pride, confidence and spirit. The statement positioned the Marka-e-Haq commemoration as validation of the air force's ongoing modernization drive and capability enhancement.
