Pakistan’s army chief warned that any violation of country’s territorial integrity, direct or indirect, would be met with a firm and decisive response, reiterating Islamabad’s stated commitment to regional peace and stability.

Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir made these remarks while interacting with participants of the 18th National Workshop on Balochistan at the military’s General Headquarters in Rawalpindi on Wednesday, according to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

Balochistan, Pakistan’s largest but least populated province, borders Iran and Afghanistan and is rich in natural resources. It has long faced security challenges and development gaps compared with other parts of the country.

Addressing the participants, Field Marshal Munir highlighted Balochistan’s strategic significance and described it as central to Pakistan’s long-term prosperity and development.

He paid tribute to the resilience and patriotism of the people of Balochistan, saying their progress remains a national priority.

The army chief welcomed initiatives undertaken by federal and provincial governments, noting that a people-centric approach is being pursued to improve socio-economic conditions and unlock the province’s economic potential for its residents.

He also acknowledged the role of civil society, particularly in countering misinformation and propaganda, and stressed its importance in promoting sustainable development.

Urging the rejection of narrow political agendas, Field Marshal Munir said Balochistan’s future must be shaped through inclusive growth and long-term stability.

Security concerns

Referring to security concerns, he said Indian-sponsored proxies continue attempts to incite violence and disrupt development in the province.

He reiterated that such actions would be countered through what he described as decisive measures by security forces to eliminate terrorism and unrest.

Assuring participants, the army chief said the armed forces remain fully committed to safeguarding the lives and well-being of Pakistan’s citizens.

The session concluded with an interactive question-and-answer segment, during which Field Marshal Munir shared further views on ongoing security measures and development initiatives in Balochistan.
