Pakistan and Uzbekistan agreed to explore deeper collaboration in defense, technology, and industrial sectors during a visit by Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Pakistan’s Global Industrial & Defense Solutions (GIDS) on Thursday.
Mirziyoyev, accompanied by senior cabinet ministers and officials, toured GIDS, Pakistan’s state-owned organization responsible for designing, developing, and manufacturing defense systems and industrial solutions.
The delegation received briefings on GIDS’ portfolio of advanced defense technologies and observed key production lines and displays, highlighting Pakistan’s growing expertise in indigenous defense manufacturing and industrial innovation.
The Uzbek delegation expressed strong interest in Pakistan’s technological and defense production capabilities, reflecting shared goals of enhancing self-reliance and competitiveness in the global defense sector.
Officials from both countries highlighted opportunities for knowledge exchange, joint ventures, and collaborative projects that could benefit their respective industries.
The visit also reinforced broader strategic ties between Islamabad and Tashkent, signaling a commitment to deepen institutional partnerships and expand multifaceted cooperation.
Pakistani officials said the engagement is expected to open new avenues for economic, technological, and defense collaboration.
Mirziyoyev’s visit to GIDS marks a significant step in Pakistan-Uzbekistan relations, strengthening bilateral engagement and underlining a mutual interest in leveraging defense and industrial expertise to support regional stability and economic growth.
