Heavy overnight rainfall caused the roof of a dilapidated house to give way in Lachi tehsil, Kohat district. Relatives and well-wishers had gathered inside to celebrate the birth of a child and congratulate the family when the structure collapsed. Everyone inside was trapped beneath the rubble.
Faizi told Nukta that 10 people, including five women and five children, were killed when the roof collapsed, while 11 others were injured. He said the rescue operation has since been completed, and all those trapped beneath the rubble have been recovered.
Who were the victims of the Kohat roof collapse?
The five women killed were identified as Nabeela, Basmina, Nawab Jana, Sakina and Nabila Bibi. Five children also died in the collapse. Rescue officials did not release further details beyond the total casualty count.
