Saudi Arabia is accelerating its shift toward sustainable transportation with a new agreement to expand electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure, according to a press release from EVIQ and Riyadh Development Company.
Under the deal, EVIQ plans to install more than 5,000 fast chargers across Saudi Arabia by 2030, making EV adoption more practical for residents and businesses.
EVIQ, a joint venture between the Public Investment Fund (PIF) and Saudi Electricity Company (SEC), has partnered with Riyadh Development Company to integrate charging stations into key locations across the capital. This move aligns with Riyadh’s transformation into a smart, sustainable city.
“Our goal is to provide advanced infrastructure that accelerates the shift to electric mobility,” said Mohammed bin Bakr Qazzaz, CEO of EVIQ. “This agreement allows us to expand our charging network, making EV ownership more convenient and accessible for drivers across the Kingdom.”
The initiative supports Saudi Vision 2030, which prioritizes environmental sustainability and the transition to cleaner energy solutions. By incorporating EV infrastructure into urban planning, Riyadh aims to lead the region in green mobility while optimizing its real estate assets for future transportation needs.
Jihad bin Abdulrahman Al-Qadi, CEO of Riyadh Development Company, highlighted the role of sustainable investment in urban planning:
This partnership enables us to enhance the experience of residents and visitors by offering comprehensive solutions that contribute to a more environmentally friendly city,
The agreement was formalized during the Private Sector Forum 2025, which fosters collaboration between PIF-affiliated companies and the private sector. This partnership highlights the growing role of private investment in building the infrastructure necessary for a cleaner, more efficient transportation system in Saudi Arabia.
