Karachi Kings

Tim Seifert, the New Zealand wicketkeeper-batter and Karachi Kings stalwart, has thrown his support behind the team’s ambitions for HBL PSL 2025, while applauding the rich cricketing talent in Pakistan.

Speaking to Nukta after a training session at National Bank Stadium ahead of their high-stakes clash with Quetta Gladiators, Seifert expressed his admiration for top Pakistani players and shared his excitement about the season ahead.

“Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, and Fakhar Zaman are phenomenal. They constantly put pressure on bowlers. And from the past, I always enjoyed watching Shahid Afridi — his leg-spin and six-hitting were absolutely thrilling.”

Back for his second season with the Karachi Kings, Seifert is optimistic about turning things around after a tough 2024 campaign.

“I’m lucky to be back. Last year wasn’t ideal, but this year feels different. We’ve got a solid group, great coaching staff, and strong management. We’ve had a mixed start — one win, one loss — but a win against Quetta can really get us going.”

Focused, positive, and fearless

On the team’s approach heading into their next game, Seifert stressed the importance of confidence and unity.

“Everyone prepares in their own way, but as a team, we’re focused on staying positive and having fun. Against Lahore Qalandars, losing two wickets in the first over hurt us. But we’re determined to bounce back by applying pressure — both with bat and ball.”

PSL vs IPL: Different worlds, same passion

When asked to compare the HBL PSL and the IPL, Seifert offered a balanced perspective:

“They’re two very different tournaments. The IPL is massive globally, and PSL holds great significance here in Pakistan. What I love about PSL is the high quality — every team has world-class overseas players. It’s a fantastic competition.”

Karachi vibes and biryani cravings

Off the pitch, Seifert is enjoying everything Karachi has to offer — especially the cuisine.

“Karachi is an amazing city. The hotel’s great and the food’s been top-notch. Chicken biryani is definitely my favorite now. I did try honey chicken at the hotel, but I’m pretty sure that’s not traditional Pakistani food!” he laughed.

With three more home games to play in Karachi, Seifert also urged fans to show up in full force.

“Home support makes a huge difference. To all our fans — come to the stadium, cheer us on, and help make this place a fortress!”

Clash of Titans

The eighth match of HBL PSL 2025 promises fireworks as Karachi Kings take on Quetta Gladiators under the lights at 8 PM (PST) in Karachi.

Now under the leadership of David Warner, who replaced Shan Masood as captain, the Kings feature a powerful top order including Warner himself, James Vince, Tim Seifert, and Khushdil Shah.

Meanwhile, Quetta Gladiators, led by Saud Shakeel, are no less formidable. Their explosive overseas trio — Mark Chapman, Finn Allen, and Rilee Rossouw — bring depth and firepower to the lineup. On the bowling front, seasoned campaigner Mohammad Amir and mystery spinner Abrar Ahmed will be key threats.

Both teams came into the match with one win and one loss, with Quetta sitting third and Karachi close behind in fourth on the points table. With early tournament momentum at stake, this encounter could be crucial in shaping both sides’ PSL 2025 campaigns.
