Sheikha Latifa honors Palestinian women at Global Women's Forum Dubai 24
Dubai royal salutes Palestinian women for their resilience and bravery during her speech at the event
Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, daughter of Dubai's ruler and Chairperson of the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority (Dubai Culture), paid tribute to Palestinian women for their resilience and bravery during her speech at the Global Women’s Forum Dubai 2024.
Speaking at the event, Sheikha Latifa commended the courage and determination of Palestinian women, highlighting their steadfastness in the face of challenges.
Her remarks were met with widespread applause from attendees, reflecting the forum’s theme, 'the power of influence', of empowering women and celebrating their contributions worldwide.
The Global Women’s Forum Dubai 2024 brought together leaders, activists, and policymakers to discuss pressing issues affecting women globally, with a focus on resilience, leadership, and innovation.
The U.N. Human Rights Office said earlier this month that nearly 70% of the fatalities it has verified in the Gaza war were women and children, and condemned what it called a systematic violation of the fundamental principles of international humanitarian law.
The 8,119 victims verified is a much lower number than the toll of over 43,000 provided by Palestinian health authorities for the 13-month-old war. But the U.N. breakdown of the victims' age and gender backs the Palestinian assertion that women and children represent a large portion of those killed in the war.
