A sister of imprisoned former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan filed a police complaint on Tuesday, accusing the former superintendent of Adiala jail and other officials of deliberate negligence by denying him medical care, resulting in "irreversible" 85% vision loss in his right eye.

In an application submitted to the police at Saddar Beroni station (Chowki Adiala) in Rawalpindi, Uzma Khan said her brother, 73, who has been held at the Central Jail Rawalpindi (Adiala) since October 2023, was kept in solitary confinement from November 2025.

She alleged that the isolation was designed to hide the rapid deterioration of his health from family, lawyers and the public, despite court-ordered access.

The complaint states that an amicus curiae report submitted to Pakistan’s Supreme Court on Feb. 11, 2026, in a case titled 'Imran Ahmad Khan Niazi v. District Election Commissioner, Islamabad' first revealed the extent of his visual impairment.

“Despite his advanced age and repeated complaints, his medical concerns were willfully ignored,” the application said. “No specialized ophthalmological consultation or adequate diagnostic intervention was arranged while he was under solitary confinement. Instead, for nearly three months, he was administered only eye drops.”

Uzma, who visited her brother on Dec. 2, 2025, quoted him as saying: “They will kill me.”

The complaint names Abdul Ghafoor Anjum, who served as superintendent of Adiala Jail from Jul. 2024 until Jan. 16, 2026, as the primary accused. It alleges that Anjum and other officials violated Pakistan’s jail manual and the prisoner’s constitutional rights by failing to provide proper medical treatment.

As a result, Khan has suffered “sudden, irreversible, and permanent loss of vision in his right eye,” along with severe pain, mental anguish and serious injury, the complaint maintains. It adds that he continues to be denied access to his personal physicians and family members.

The application calls for immediate registration of a First Information Report (FIR) against Anjum and others for offences including attempted murder under Section 324 of the Pakistan Penal Code, as well as Sections 336, 337-H(1), 337-L(1) and 166. It demands a thorough investigation.

Khan, political leader of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party, has faced multiple legal cases since his ouster as prime minister in 2022. He remains incarcerated on various charges.

Police at Saddar Beroni station had no immediate comment on the complaint.
