Six Pakistani sailors injured during a recent Houthi missile attack on a Tanzanian-flagged commercial vessel returned safely to Pakistan, federal officials confirmed.
The repatriation operation also brought home the mortal remains of Pakistani crew members who were killed during the Red Sea maritime strike.
How were the injured Pakistani sailors repatriated?
The Government of Pakistan coordinated the repatriation effort alongside diplomatic missions in Saudi Arabia to secure medical transport and border clearances for the surviving crew members. Diplomatic teams from the Pakistani Consulate General in Jeddah and the Embassy in Riyadh facilitated emergency logistics from Yemen despite operating without a direct diplomatic mission inside Yemeni territory.
The six Pakistani sailors injured in the recent Houthi attack on a Tanzanian-flagged commercial vessel have safely returned to Pakistan, while the mortal remains of the two Pakistani sailors who tragically lost their lives have also been repatriated.

The crew members were aboard the commercial vessel Tihamah when it was struck by multiple missiles in the Bab al-Mandeb Strait. The injured sailors received initial emergency treatment at medical facilities in Mokha and Aden before being transferred to Jeddah with assistance from Saudi authorities.
The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) and domestic border administration teams coordinated entry procedures upon arrival in Pakistan to ensure smooth travel to their home districts. Federal officials expressed gratitude to the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs for providing medical care and facilitating emergency transit arrangements in Jeddah.
What was Pakistan's response to the Red Sea vessel attack?
The Pakistani government issued a formal statement condemning the strike on the commercial ship, reiterating that the safety and freedom of navigation for international seafarers must be protected under international law.
Federal authorities pledged comprehensive support for the injured survivors and the families of the deceased crew members. Foreign ministry officials confirmed that Pakistan remains in active contact with regional maritime partners to monitor ongoing security conditions across Gulf shipping lanes.
