Saif Ali Khan, and Rohit Sharma's World Cup winners will appear during the season
Alia Bhatt Kapoor will promote Jigra in the show premiering on September 21
The 13-episode season will also mark Jr NTR’s debut as a Kapil Sharma guest
Kapil Sharma returns with The Great Indian Kapil Show on Netflix. a once-unlikely renewal is now a reality as the team is set to bring new guests to your TV screen every week.
Besides Kapil Sharma, the host, the show features comedians Sunil Grover, Krushna Abhishek, Kiku Sharda, Rajiv Thakur, and permanent guest Archana Puran Singh who have formed a group that effortlessly makes you laugh. Their first challenge will be to surpass the first season, which will be a huge challenge considering in the show’s debut season, many guests appeared for the first time on any Kapil Sharma show.
The new season’s trailer released on Saturday also revealed that it had enough material to turn your Shanivaars (Saturdays) into Funnyvaars (Funny Saturdays). Let’s take a look at some of the big names who will make an appearance in The Great Indian Kapil Show and make it worth your while.
The T20 World Cup winners
Although the season 2 clip featured a star-studded lineup of guests for the upcoming season, Rohit Sharma and his World Cup winners were the highlight. Their appearance in one of the episodes would not only be highly anticipated but also their first such appearance after being crowned T20 Champions.
Facing Kapil Sharma’s tongue-in-cheek humor and maintaining a calm exterior in front of Sunil Grover would be a Herculean task for the world champions. After all, Kapil Sharma believes that it was due to appearing in his show that Rohit Sharma was able to break the jinx of being runner-up.
Saif Ali Khan, Jr NTR & Janhvi Kapoor
Since Devara: Part 1 will be released on September 27, it seems that the actors from the film will be amongst the first guests in the second season. From playing games on stage to dancing to a popular song, the cast featuring Jr. NTR, Janhvi Kapoor, and Saif Ali Khan will keep you laughing with Kapil's quick wit and the team's well-timed gags.
Alia Bhatt Kapoor & Karan Johar
It would be impossible to miss Alia Bhatt Kapoor no matter where she goes. Even in the Season 2 trailer of Kapil Sharma’s Netflix show, she can be seen playing dumb charades with mentor Karan Johar.
Her banter with Kapil and the cast is also unforgettable, and if the episode is anything like the teaser, it will help her upcoming film Jigra which she will be promoting on the show.
The Fabulous Lives of Bollywood Wives
And then there are Neelam Kothari, Maheep Kapoor, Bhavna Pandey, Seema Kiran Sajdeh, popularly known as Bollywood Wives who appeared on Netflix long before Kapil Sharma. How they handle Kapil's humor would make the episode as interesting as The Fabulous Lives of Bollywood Wives.
Will the second season of The Great Indian Kapil Show be greater than the first one?
It's difficult to imagine that Kapil Sharma and his band of brothers would be able to make the second season of their show better than the first. However, anything is possible in this day and age. After all, when the team reunited for the show's Netflix debut, many didn’t give them a chance.
Even then, they were able to successfully invite Aamir Khan (who doesn’t make TV appearances), Neetu Kapoor and her children, Ranbir and Riddhima, Diljit Dosanjh, Parineeti Chopra, and Imtiaz Ali which is a remarkable achievement.
Add to that English singer Ed Sheeran’s appearance and you felt elevated, considering before this international celebrity from another country, most of his guests were Indian celebrities.
Fans of the show in Pakistan would, however, be hoping that their stars, who have a massive following in India would also appear on the show. Who would miss an episode with Fawad Khan and Mahira Khan? Or skip an interview with Saba Qamar, Humaima Malick, and Imran Abbas?
The Great Indian Kapil Sharma Show Season 2 will begin streaming on Netflix on September 21, with a new episode dropping every Saturday night.
