The United Arab Emirates has reiterated its unwavering support for the State of Kuwait in safeguarding its sovereign rights and national interests, emphasizing solidarity against any actions that could undermine Kuwait’s territorial or maritime claims, according to a report by WAM.

The UAE expressed serious concern over a map and list of coordinates recently submitted by Iraq to the United Nations, highlighting potential challenges to Kuwait’s rights over its maritime zones, including Fisht Al-Eid and Fisht Al-Eij.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stressed the importance of considering the historical and fraternal ties between the two nations while addressing such matters.

In its statement, the ministry called on Iraq to approach the issue responsibly and in line with international law, including the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS) of 1982, as well as existing bilateral agreements, memoranda of understanding, and established diplomatic frameworks.

The UAE emphasized that any disputes or concerns should be resolved through constructive dialogue and diplomatic channels, underlining the need to uphold regional stability and security.
