The United Arab Emirates said the start of a second round of trilateral talks between Russia, Ukraine and the United States in Abu Dhabi sends positive messages about diplomatic momentum, according to the state news agency WAM.

Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the UAE’s deputy prime minister and minister of foreign affairs, said the talks reflect the parties’ seriousness in advancing diplomacy and their shared commitment to ending humanitarian suffering from a conflict now in its fourth year, WAM reported.

Sheikh Abdullah said the UAE’s hosting of the second round reflects international confidence in the country’s role in fostering dialogue and advancing diplomatic solutions to crises. He said the issue is marked by broad international consensus on the importance of reaching a comprehensive and sustainable settlement.

Sheikh Abdullah highlighted the close relations and friendship between President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Russian President Vladimir Putin, as well as Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

He said those relationships have been a fundamental pillar for strengthening mutual trust, supporting mediation efforts and bridging perspectives between the two sides.

“These relations have formed a fundamental pillar for strengthening mutual trust, supporting mediation efforts, and bridging perspectives between the two sides,” Sheikh Abdullah said, according to WAM.

He expressed appreciation to President Putin and President Zelenskyy, along with participating teams from both countries, for what he described as their constructive engagement in the talks.

Sheikh Abdullah also thanked U.S. President Donald Trump, citing his close ties with Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

He praised what he called the leadership and steadfast efforts of President Trump and extended appreciation to the participating U.S. team for facilitating the talks and advancing the political track.

Sheikh Abdullah said the international community is looking forward to positive outcomes from the talks that would help consolidate global stability and bring an end to the crisis.

He said the two rounds of talks held in Abu Dhabi resulted in productive and constructive discussions that highlighted areas of common ground.

Those areas, he said, can serve as a foundation for further progress, adding that the UAE remains committed to providing a supportive environment for dialogue that narrows differences and advances peaceful solutions.

Sheikh Abdullah reaffirmed that, based on its close partnerships and balanced relations with all parties, the UAE continues to support efforts aimed at achieving a comprehensive political settlement.

He said the UAE believes cooperation and solidarity in times of hardship are a humanitarian and moral responsibility that cannot be delayed.

Such efforts, he added, help mitigate humanitarian impacts while strengthening prospects for peace, stability and prosperity at regional and global levels.
