A delegation from the UAE Space Agency, led by Dr. Ahmad Belhoul Al Falasi, Minister of Sports and Chairman of the Agency, has completed an official visit to Japan aimed at deepening cooperation in space exploration, scientific research, and advanced industries, WAM reported.
Dr. Al Falasi said the UAE’s approach to space is guided by the National Space Strategy 2030, which seeks to build a sustainable space economy, boost scientific research, and empower the private sector.
“The UAE operates with a clear and ambitious vision for the future of the space sector,” he noted. “Our visit to Japan reflects our country’s commitment to acting as a bridge for international collaboration and contributing to a more integrated global space ecosystem.”
He added that partnerships with Japan will help unlock new opportunities in science, technology, and exploration. “Through collective efforts, we aim to advance global space initiatives while reinforcing the UAE’s leadership in space science and the space economy.”
Salem Butti Al Qubaisi, Director-General of the UAE Space Agency, described the visit as a milestone in UAE-Japan relations.
“This visit represents a significant milestone in our excellent working relationship with Japan, one of the world’s foremost space leaders,” he said. “We explored joint projects that will enhance national capabilities and create new opportunities for our youth.”
During the trip, the UAE delegation held talks with senior officials at Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, visited the JAXA Tsukuba Space Centre, and toured Mitsubishi Heavy Industries’ Tobeshima plant, a leading facility for spacecraft and satellite production.
Meetings with JAXA President Dr. Hiroshi Yamakawa and MHI executives focused on cooperation in advanced technologies, deep space exploration, satellite manufacturing, and knowledge transfer, further reinforcing the strategic partnership between the two nations.
