UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan visited the National Children’s Hospital in Washington, DC, during his first official visit to the US.
He was briefed on the hospital's pioneering work in pediatric surgery and innovations, including advancements made at the Sheikh Zayed Institute for Pediatric Surgical Innovation, which was established through a $150 million donation from the UAE.

During his tour, Sheikh Mohamed learned about the latest technologies, such as AI-powered systems in the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit, which help predict critical events like cardiac arrests.
Groundbreaking innovations

He also explored the progress of a miniature pacemaker, designed for infants and made possible by the UAE’s investment. This device has already been used to treat over 40 children, including newborns, offering hope to families around the world. The UAE funded $30M for the Children’s Research & Innovation Campus.
