The UAE’s National Space Academy has partnered with EDGE to launch the Space Mission and Satellite Engineering (SMSE) Program, aimed at training the next generation of Emirati space professionals, WAM reported.
Developed in collaboration with EDGE entities FADA and BEACON RED, the 10-week program will provide in-depth, hands-on training in satellite mission design, space systems engineering, and mission operations.
It begins on September 16, 2025, and will be held across multiple locations including the UAE Space Agency’s headquarters in Abu Dhabi.
Participants will engage in five core modules covering mission design, engineering, validation, and operations - culminating in a capstone project simulating a full satellite mission. The training combines in-person labs, site visits to UAE aerospace organizations, and online sessions led by local and international experts.
Open exclusively to UAE nationals, the program targets professionals in the space sector, researchers in STEM fields, and recent graduates with relevant qualifications.
Salem Al Qubaisi, Director General of the UAE Space Agency, said the initiative reflects the country’s commitment to cultivating homegrown expertise to lead future space missions. EDGE Group’s Waleid Al Mesmari added that building local talent is critical to the UAE’s long-term success in the space sector.
