The United Arab Emirates highlighted its leadership in clean energy and modern electricity infrastructure at India Energy Week in Goa, according to state-run WAM news agency.

The UAE, represented by the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure, took part in a session titled “The Era of the Electrostate,” which brought together international energy experts and senior decision-makers.

The discussion focused on the challenges of rising global electricity demand, supply chain resilience, and investments in smart and flexible grid systems.

Eng. Ahmed Al Kaabi, Assistant Undersecretary for the Electricity, Water, and Future Energy Sector at the UAE Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure, represented the UAE at the session.

He outlined the country’s ongoing and planned projects to modernize power grids, integrate renewable energy, and deploy digital solutions for more reliable and low-emission electricity systems.

“Expanding and modernising electricity grids is a fundamental pillar for strengthening energy security, supporting economic growth, and accelerating the transition to clean energy, particularly in light of the rapid growth in global electricity demand,” Al Kaabi said.

He emphasized the UAE’s commitment to diversifying its energy mix, citing the Barakah Nuclear Energy Plant as a global model. “Barakah represents a global model for producing clean and reliable electricity and contributes to reducing carbon emissions, enhancing grid stability, and supporting the UAE’s climate neutrality and sustainable energy transition objectives,” he said.

The session at India Energy Week comes as countries worldwide seek to expand electricity access while reducing carbon footprints. Experts highlighted the growing need for resilient and flexible grid infrastructure that can accommodate renewable energy sources and digital technologies.
