UAE tourism sector booms with AED 33.5 billion in hotel revenue
Average hotel occupancy rates across the seven emirates reached an impressive 77.8 per cent, positioning the UAE among the highest globally.
The UAE’s tourism sector continues its impressive growth, with hotel establishments generating AED 33.5 billion ($9.1 billion) in revenue during the first nine months of 2024. This marks a 4% increase compared to the same period in 2023.
Average hotel occupancy rates across the seven emirates reached an impressive 77.8%, positioning the UAE among the highest globally. Additionally, the total number of hotel nights rose to approximately 75.5 million from January to September 2024, reflecting an 8% year-on-year increase.
These milestones were highlighted during the UAE delegation’s participation in the 27th session of the Arab Ministerial Council for Tourism, held at the League of Arab States General Secretariat headquarters in Cairo.
The UAE delegation reaffirmed the country’s commitment to fostering collaboration in the Arab tourism sector, underlining its pivotal role as an economic growth driver and a cornerstone of sustainable development across the region.
Beyond the economic impact, the delegation emphasized that joint Arab tourism efforts are a powerful tool for cultural exchange, the preservation of Arab heritage, and the strengthening of a shared identity among Arab nations. This approach highlights the UAE’s leadership in promoting tourism as both an economic and cultural bridge in the region.
