The United Arab Emirates’ Public Prosecution has issued a legal warning against conducting digital fundraising without official authorization, emphasizing that such activities constitute a criminal offense under UAE law.
In an awareness video released on its official social media channels, the Public Prosecution clarified that individuals who create, manage, or oversee websites soliciting donations without approval from the competent authorities may face legal action, according to WAM.
The warning also covers publishing content across electronic networks or any form of information technology to promote unlicensed fundraising activities.
Authorities highlighted that violations, including breaches of existing licensing conditions, are subject to penalties under Article 46 of Federal Decree-Law No. 34 of 2021 on Combating Rumors and Cybercrimes.
The announcement forms part of the Public Prosecution’s ongoing efforts to enhance legal awareness and ensure compliance with UAE legislation.
Through its Criminal Media Centre’s “Wa’i” (Awareness) campaign, the authority aims to promote transparency and a culture of lawful conduct across society.
