The United Arab Emirates has committed US$1 billion to support the development of Yemen’s energy sector, reinforcing its long-standing efforts to promote sustainable development and improve living conditions in the country, state news agency WAM reported.

The pledge follows directives from President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and close oversight by Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister, and Chairman of the Presidential Court.

The announcement was made during the inaugural Yemen National Energy Conference (YFNEC 2025), where UAE Ambassador to Yemen Mohamed Hamad Al Zaabi highlighted the country’s ongoing focus on advancing sustainable energy, tackling sector challenges, and fostering public-private partnerships to encourage future investment in Yemen.

Yemeni Prime Minister Salem bin Braik welcomed the UAE’s support, praising the long-standing bilateral ties and the country’s continued contribution toward Yemen’s growth, stability, and development.

The conference drew wide international participation, including representatives from UN permanent member states and the Office of the UN Envoy to Yemen, underscoring global efforts to address Yemen’s energy needs and strengthen stability and prosperity for its people.
