The UAE is gearing up for a monumental moment in its space journey as MBZ-SAT, the region’s most advanced Earth-observation satellite, prepares for liftoff tonight.

What makes MBZ-SAT unique?

Named in honor of President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, MBZ-SAT is a milestone in Emirati engineering. Designed and built entirely by UAE engineers at MBRSC, the satellite reflects the country’s dedication to advancing its space capabilities.

Here’s why it stands out:

  • High-resolution imagery: MBZ-SAT captures incredibly detailed images with accuracy levels twice as high as previous satellites.
  • Fast data delivery: It can capture 10 times more imagery and process it in under two hours, offering rapid solutions for critical needs.
  • Built for impact: From monitoring the environment to aiding disaster relief and managing infrastructure, this satellite is set to make a big difference.

Cutting-edge technology

MBZ-SAT features advanced systems designed to make it one of the most effective satellites in the region:

  • Powerful imaging tools: It’s equipped with a camera capable of capturing fine details within areas smaller than one square meter.
  • Electric propulsion: This ensures efficient operation in space.
  • Quick data transfer: High-speed systems allow timely and accurate data delivery.

Around 90% of MBZ-SAT's mechanical components and much of its electronics were produced in the UAE, showcasing the country’s growing expertise in manufacturing for space exploration.
